If you have a microphone with an XLR input, you’ll need an audio interface to use it with a computer. The Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 is a great choice, especially if you have a mic that requires a lot of gain, such as the Shure SM7B mentioned above. It has 4 XLR preamps, plenty of inputs and outputs and records up to 24-Bit / 96 kHz.
Focusrite’s smaller models are also good if you don’t need as many inputs and outputs.
